Steer Centre β Terms and Conditions
1. Booking, Prepayment, and Cancellation
1.1 All bookings are confirmed and paid in advance with confirmation sent via SMS.
1.2 If a lesson is cancelled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours notice, the payment for that lesson will be forfeited.
1.3 Lessons and test packages booked on public holidays include a 25% surcharge.
1.4 If a lesson is cancelled or rescheduled with more than 24 hours notice, any payment made will be credited towards a future lesson.
1.5 Both the instructor and student should aim to be on time for scheduled lessons. If a student is running late, they must inform the instructor as soon as possible. If the delay is due to unavoidable circumstances beyond the studentβs control (such as a medical emergency), the instructor will attempt to accommodate the lost time. If the delay is within the studentβs control (e.g., forgetting the appointment), the instructor is not required to make up for lost time.
1.6 If the instructor is delayed due to circumstances beyond their control (e.g. licencing delays, mechanical issues), they will make every effort to notify the student and either extend the lesson or reschedule at no additional cost.
2. Steer Centreβs Responsibilities
2.1 Steer Centre will honour all confirmed bookings.
2.2 We will provide a fully registered, insured, roadworthy and safe vehicle for each lesson meeting 5-star ANCAP safety standards.
2.3 All instructors hold a valid driving instructor accreditation, a valid Victorian Driverβs Licence, have passed Victoria Police checks and maintain a current Working with Children registration.
2.4 It is a legal requirement that all instructors conduct lessons while fit and healthy, with a 0.00% blood alcohol concentration (BAC) and no presence of illicit substances. The student must also have a 0.00% BAC and be free from any illicit substances before and during the lesson.
3. Safety and Duty of Care
3.1 Steer Centre is committed to providing a safe and supportive learning environment. Our goal is to equip students with the skills to drive safely and confidently.
3.2 Both the instructor and student are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner to maximise learning during lessons.
3.3 In the event that immediate intervention is required for safety, the instructor may take control of the vehicle, including but not limited to steering, braking, accelerating, or adjusting controls as necessary.
3.4 Dash cams or in-car cameras may be in use during lessons for the purposes of safety, insurance, accident evidence and instructor training. By taking lessons with Steer Centre, the student agrees that this footage may be used for these purposes.
3.5 The student must operate the vehicle responsibly and follow all instructions provided by the instructor.
4. Release and Indemnity
4.1 Learning to drive involves risks, as external factors such as other road users can contribute to unexpected incidents. While Steer Centre prioritises safety, there is a possibility of an accident occurring during a lesson.
4.2 The student (and their legal guardian if applicable) agrees to release Steer Centre and its instructors against any claims that may arise from incidents occurring during lessons.
4.3 By booking and attending lessons with Steer Centre, the student agrees to these terms and conditions.
